Pop, Clink, Cheers: Your Ultimate Guide to a Sparkling New Year's Eve

As we bid farewell to another remarkable year, the anticipation of New Year's Eve festivities fills the air with excitement and joy. At CARBONISTE, we believe that every celebration deserves a touch of sparkle and bubbly elegance. So, as you prepare to welcome the new year, here are some essentials to ensure your celebration is as dazzling as our sparkling wines.

  1. Sparkling Wine

Well obviously we think sparkling wine is the number one essential for any holiday, but especially when ringing in the new year. We recommend buying a half bottle for each guest. Our favorite picks for this New Year’s Eve are CARBO-NATION because it’s new and Octopus and Corralitos because our current vintages are almost gone.

2. Salty Snacks

Pair your favorite bubblies with your favorite salty snacks. Salt actually enhances the sparkling wine's fruit flavors and mellows the acidity. The snacks don’t have to be fancy either. Our favorite salty pairings are Lays potato chips, roasted almonds, and popcorn.

3. Glassware

You don’t have to have fancy glassware for the perfect New Year’s Eve, but knowing more about glassware helps you be the host with the most. Sparkling wines can be served in a variety of ways. Here’s a quick breakdown on glassware:

Flute - Classic, posh, and shows off the bubbles. However, the small opening does not allow for the full expression of the wine’s aroma.

Tulip - A romantic choice. The tulip allows the wine’s bouquet to fully develop and for you to experience it.

Coupe - Fabulously vintage and mid-century modern. The coupe is fun for a little flair at your party, but easy to spill.

White Wine Glass - This is how we drink our bubbles. The white wine glass is not too big or too small and gets the job done for a perfect evening without a lot of fuss.

5. Saber (wine opener)

Now, can you open a bottle of sparkling wine without a saber? Yes. Is it as fun? No way! We recommend sabering your way into the new year. Just make sure the neck of your bubbles is super cold before you try. We recommend chilling your bubbly neck down in ice for 20 to 30 minutes before opening.

6. Party Poppers for Countdown

With the bubbly flowing all evening, you will want a way to celebrate when the clock strikes twelve. We recommend picking up some New Year’s Eve confetti poppers. Don’t worry about the mess till next year.

With these six New Year’s Eve essentials, we think you’ll be ready to pop, clink, and cheers to the next year! If you are looking for more fun sparkling ideas, check out our Holiday Week Favorites blog for some tasty recipes and game ideas to sip, snack, and smile your way through the holidays.
